My Specialties

I am trained in several different modalities so that I can better tailor working with you and your changing needs during our sessions.

  • Somatic psychotherapy is a holistic therapeutic approach that emphasizes the connection between the mind, emotions and body.

Trauma is often stored in the body and shows up through physical symptoms such as stress, sleep issues, emotional dysregulation, and negative thought patterns. To shift these patterns and gain insight, I support my clients through somatic exploration, interventions and movement.

By tuning into the body, clients can access and process stored or suppressed feelings, often leading to greater emotional release and healing. Techniques may include mindfulness, breathwork, movement, and other body-based practices that facilitate awareness and release tension.

Somatic psychotherapy is particularly effective for trauma recovery, stress management, and personal growth as it encourages individuals to reconnect with their bodies thus fostering a self-sense of safety and empowerment. Ultimately, it aims to promote overall well-being by integrating the physical, emotional, and psychological aspects of a person’s experience.

  • CBT is a type of psychotherapy that focuses on the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It operates on the premise that negative thought patterns can lead to emotional distress and unhelpful behaviors.

In CBT, individuals work with a therapist to identify and challenge these negative thoughts, replacing them with more positive and realistic ones. This process helps to change the way they feel and behave in response to various situations. CBT is often structured, goal-oriented, and typically involves homework assignments to practice skills learned in therapy.

It is effective for a variety of conditions including anxiety, depression, phobias, and stress management. Overall, CBT empowers individuals to take control of their mental health by developing healthier thinking patterns and coping strategies.

  • Imago dialogues teach active listening, validation, & empathy. These dialogues revolve around trust, repair, values, communication, how to be loved and etc.

Imago posits that we  project responsibility for disconnection  on each other and the fighting is because both partners want to be connected. Negative traits that are from childhood are re-ignited in the relationship  to heal maladaptive patterns and repair old wounds. This is because the mind needs to have the context recreated to repair what was wounded in childhood. Through Imago, we learn how to stretch to meet partners needs and to grow parts of ourselves from childhood.

Imago works because the dialogues bring out the unconscious part of each partner, teaching each person to understand how the past affects their present. Through understanding each person’s unconscious, we learn how to be a good partner and what our needs and our partner’s needs are.
